Position

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold a barbell in front of your thighs with an overhand grip.

Movement

  • Shrug your shoulders up towards your ears, lifting the barbell as high as possible.
  • Hold the top position for a moment, then lower the barbell back down under control.

Breathing

Inhale as you lower the barbell and exhale as you lift it up.

Tips

  • Focus on using your trapezius muscles to lift the barbell, rather than relying on momentum or other muscles for assistance.
  • Avoid using excessive weight or momentum to lift the barbell, as this can strain the shoulders and reduce the effectiveness of the exercise.
  • Start with a light weight to ensure proper form and gradually increase the resistance as you build strength.
