Position

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold a barbell with an overhand grip in front of your thighs.

Movement

  • Lift the barbell by raising your elbows out to the sides and pulling it up to shoulder height, keeping it close to your body.
  • Lower the barbell back down to the starting position under control.

Breathing

Inhale as you lower the barbell and exhale as you lift it up.

Tips

  • Keep your core engaged and your back straight throughout the movement to maintain proper form.
  • Avoid using momentum to lift the barbell, as this can strain the shoulders and reduce the effectiveness of the exercise.
  • Start with a light weight to ensure proper form and gradually increase the resistance as you build strength.
