Cable Upright Row

The cable upright row is an exercise that targets the shoulders, specifically the deltoids, as well as the trapezius and upper back muscles. It is performed using a cable machine with a straight bar attachment, which allows for a smooth and controlled range of motion.

Position

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold a straight bar attachment on a cable machine with an overhand grip.

Movement

  • Raise the bar by pulling it up towards your chin, keeping your elbows high and close to your body.
  • Lower the bar back down to the starting position under control.

Breathing

Inhale as you lower the bar and exhale as you lift it up.

Tips

  • Keep your core engaged and your back straight throughout the movement to maintain proper form.
  • Avoid using momentum to lift the bar, as this can strain the shoulders and reduce the effectiveness of the exercise.
  • Start with a light weight to ensure proper form and gradually increase the resistance as you build strength.
