Position

Lie on a flat bench with your feet flat on the floor and your back arched, holding a dumbbell in each hand above your chest with your arms extended.

Movement

  • Lower the dumbbells out to the sides in a wide arc until you feel a stretch in your chest muscles.
  • Bring the dumbbells back together over your chest by squeezing your chest muscles.

Breathing

Inhale as you lower the dumbbells out to the sides and exhale as you bring them back together.

Tips

  • Maintain a slight bend in your elbows throughout the movement to reduce stress on the joints.
  • Keep your wrists straight and avoid letting the dumbbells drift towards your head or feet.
  • Focus on using your chest muscles to move the dumbbells, rather than relying on momentum.
